Sidetrack opened in Chicago's Boystown in 1982 to a competive scene for gay bars. With so many options around, Sidetrack decided to stand out by becoming the first gay bar in Chicago to jump on the music video craze, effectively bringing dance music alongside sophisticated video editing to its club on Halsted. SideTrack continues to be a central gathering point for gay Chicago locals and visitors 40 years later.
